The Great Abu Simbel


Abu Simbel is an archaeological site consists of a set of temples near the border of Egypt with Sudan. Abu Simbel was constructed by for the Pharaoh Ramesses II who time in powered for 67 years during the century 13th BC. This great temple is devoted to Pharaoh Ramesses II and a statuette of him is seated with three other gods within the innermost part of the rock-cut place of worship.

The specialty of the Abu Simbel is that temples were cut from the rock and moved to higher floor in the 1960 as the waters of the Nasser Lake began to rise following completion of the Aswan High Dam. It is amazing to see. This site is the part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the “Nubian Monuments”. For protection a security barrier has been erected around the site. The cruise boats are also kept off to the sides of the temple site. You can also have a glance at new Visitor’s Center which has been opened behind the temples and vendors are now dwelled in a line of eternal shops leading to the center. It is pleased to view the Sound & Light show at Abu Simbel in the evening. The show can be conducted in various languages, which has been introduced for visitors. This Egypt’s one of the top tourist attraction inspires the tourists to view the site.
