Kairaku-en Garden is one of the three great and beautiful landscaped Japanese gardens. It was built in 1982. The name, Kairaku-en means “Park to be enjoyed together”.
The garden is famous for plum trees. It houses more than 3,000 plum trees, and plum flowers. The Garden is open to the public and served as educational and recreational purposes. During annual Plum Festival, the plum trees and flowers draw the attraction of visitors. The festival takes place in late February and March.
You will see hundred different varieties of plum trees with white, pink, and red blossoms. The garden also features a bamboo groove, cedar woods, and the Kobuntei, which is a traditional Japanese style building and one of the highlights of the garden. The view of Kairaku-en Garden and nearby Senba Lake from the top floor of Kobuntei is very nice and most enjoyed.
