Sahara Desert is famously known as “the largest desert in the world” that covering most of the North Africa.
The size of Sahara is 8.6 million Km square or 9,000,000 square km. Sahara Desert is spreading 800 to 1200 miles from north to south and from east to west it is 3,000 miles. It is planked by the Atlantic Ocean on the west, the Nile and Red Sea on the East, Atlas Mountains, and Mediterranean Sea to the north. The population is around 4 million people.
To Say about climate, the great desert Sahara has a subtropical climate in its northern parts, and a tropical one in the south. Winters in the north are cold and mild in the south. However, summers are hot all over the desert. The highest temperature recorded is 58 degree centigrade in Aziziyah, Libya. Though is dry but there is an annual rainfall in most regions.
According the scientist’s research, by reading the satellite photos they have come to believe that the Sahara regularly shrinks and grows.
