The Nile is a major north-flowing river in East Africa, which is considered as longest river in the World. It is about 6,670 km (4,160 miles) in length. The name “Nile” brought from the Greek word, “Nelios” meaning “River Valley”. It has two major tributaries such as White Nile and Blue Nile. The White Nile rises in the Great Lakes province of Central Africa, and flows north from there southern Sudan. The Blue Nile starts at Lake Tana in Ethiopia, and flows into Sudan from southeast. These two rivers meet at Khartoum (Sudanese capital).

Though the Nile is commonly associated with Egypt, but only 22% of its course runs through Egypt. It runs through Egypt, forming a fertile green valley across the desert. Most of the Egyptians lie along those parts of the Nile valley north of Aswan. And all of the Ancient Egyptian cultural and historical sites can be found along the banks of the river.

Most of the all Egyptian tourist attractions can be found along the Nile River. These places can be visited by taking a cruise in the Nile River. The Valley of the Kings is one of the Egyptian attractions. It is beautifully located on the west bank of the river in Thebes. It houses totally 62 tombs, and has 2 components such as West and East valley. The East valley is the most tourist visit, in which you will find most tombs of the New Kingdom Pharaohs.
