The Rice Terrace Fields of Banaue is considered as “Eighth wonder of the world”. The Banaue rice Terraces are considered as 2000 year old terraces that were whittled into the mountains of Ifugao in the Philippines by ancestors of the Batad native people. These fields are stretching like steeping stones to the sky, which are situated about 1500 meters above sea level and cover 4000 square miles of mountainside.
The Rice Fields are the part of the Rice Terrace of the Philippines Cordilleras. The Rice Terrace Fields has been built largely, by hand with hand tools and animal power. The people of Banaue speak various dialects, such as Tuwali, Ayangan, Filipino vernacular dialects and fluent English as well. The culture of Ifugao spins around rice, considered a prestige crop. In, 1995 it was places in UNESCO World Heritage site. Various hiking trials of the area are the major appeal of Banaue Rice Terrace. Batad, Mayoyao, Kaingan are other Rice terrace located aside from Banaue. Visitors will never get bored to see its beauty and magnificence. The Banaue rice fields are one of the most beautiful destinations in Philippines.
