At the time of its construction, it was the largest dam in the world and although long as outshined it is still an amazing and marvel structure of engineering. The structure is huge, a curving wall made of plain concrete, 600 feet thick at the base rest between the vertical walls of Black Canyon. The Dam is governed as “The Seven Wonders of Modern engineering” in 1955, by American Society of Civil Engineers. And it is now “The World’s 35th largest hydro-electric generating station”.
